Summary:

MySource Talent has joined forces with the Puget Sound Chapter of the Association for Women in Computing (AWCPS) to host the IT Talent Crisis event. The IT Talent Crisis is a one-day conference that promises to broaden your knowledge about retaining your key employees and finding the best people to fill your current openings. For people considering career changes, we'll show you how to find the best jobs as well as how to prepare for the coming trends. We will bring together multiple layers of concerned professionals to share and learn about what we are really facing in the coming years with regard to talent and jobs, and how we can mitigate those risks.

There is a changing demographic in IT. Baby Boomers are starting to retire, and businesses are beginning to feel the impact of the loss of experience. As Boomers begin retiring in droves, companies need to take succession planning and talent pipelining seriously. In our market there are not enough college graduates majoring in IT to fill available jobs. AWC/PS and MySource Talent are proud to announce a one-day event -the IT Talent Crisis - to outline the critical issues and help companies build appropriate plans to stem the loss of highly skilled, hard-to-replace employees. In the IT Talent Crisis, we will explain the facts surrounding numbers of future IT workers, the growth of future IT jobs, and the impact on IT from retiring baby boomers. In addition, we will discuss hiring and motivating Gen Y employees, alternatives to offshore outsourcing and how to take advantage of the swelling trends in the non-traditional and virtual workforce. The day will start with experts explaining the issues companies are facing, future business impact, and solutions being evaluated by various local business leaders such as Boeing and Weyerhaeuser.

Two keynote speakers will kick us off in the morning followed by a panel discussion to allow attendees to ask questions of the speakers, a networking lunch, and two sets of afternoon breakout discussions led by local experts in employee retention, talent recruitment, managing virtual and flex-hour employees, and more. These breakouts will allow attendees to participate in in-depth discussions that are most relevant to their companies. At the end of the day, there will be a review of significant ideas and proposals, with follow-up sessions identified based on participants' votes. We have a limited number of tables that can be sponsored and/or reserved for corporate teams. Please go to http://www.awcps.org/meetings/registration_may.php to reserve a seat or a table.

The event is limited to 120 participants and seats are selling fast.

Who Should Attend:
  1. Top IT Talent: Where is the talent market heading and how do I maximize my knowledge while keeping my personal goals, life balance and aspirations intact? Recruiters will be on site to answer questions and receive resumes.
  2. Career changers and new grads: How to get the job you want and where are the jobs likely to be? What skills will be needed between now and 2016? What are some of the big local companies are doing? Labor stats—is the shortage horror or hype?
  3. Recruiters: How to find the best talent; Creative sourcing; Baby boomers are retiring—or are they? How to sell the WHOLE package.
  4. HR Directors and IT Managers: Succession Planning, workplace attractiveness-workplace flexibility, knowledge sharing and collaboration; How you rate as a desirable employer; Where to find the right people; attracting top "knowledge & talent" to bring desired results as opposed to finding skills to fit a job description.
  5. Educators, faculty and academic planners: Where should your curriculums be going; 21st century skill sets.

Our commitment is to combine the above subjects into a unique and informative workshop that helps find answers to these compelling questions. There is a keen sense of urgency among top employers and IT talent to strategically map out a route toward answers and solutions that will prepare us for the inevitable. We are looking for companies and professionals who are passionate about collaboration and brainstorming to come together and create a plan to assure our future growth and success, economically and otherwise.

Registration Policy: We enthusiastically accept reservations for meetings up to and including the day of the meeting.

We gladly take cancellations up to the 3rd day before the meeting.

For paid meetings, no-shows will be charged.
