Summary: Is there a "difficult" person in your work or personal life? Losing sleep, productivity, or morale because you are at a loss as to how to deal with the conflict? Do you find yourself saying things like:

"My whole department is great! It's just that JANE drives us all crazy - we'd be better off without her."

"My boss could win the 'World's Biggest Micro-manager' award."

"I have a teammate that doesn't pull his weight.  I find myself working more to make up for his shortcomings."

"Watch out for Rick - you can't start a conversation with him because he'll never stop talking."

Join coaches Tracy Rekart and Cara Wilson for an interactive, eye-opening presentation.  You'll come away with a new look at an age-old organizational dynamic: dealing with the person that just drives you nuts.  Specifically, we will examine:

- How to identify where you actually have influence and control in these situations; Understanding where you can influence the outcome can save time, energy, and frustration on your part.
- How to "get to the balcony" - the ways in which finding a high level view of your organizational structure can help you increase your ability to engage productively.
- Two models of communication that will provide a framework for examining your own contribution to the situation and specific, practical ways to engage with others in a non-threatening and productive manner.
- Where to turn for additional resources in improving your professional (and personal) relationships.
Speaker Bio: Tracy Rekart and Cara Wilson
Your presenters make their careers out of helping individuals and organizations improve their processes through communication. You will learn, you will laugh, and you will leave with new insights into dealing with the 'difficult' people in your life.

Tracy Rekart, MA ABS
Is a coach and consultant. Tracy focuses on helping business owners and managers discover their personal and professional vision. She then supports leaders in achieving that vision through personal coaching, identifying supportive and unsupportive organizational dynamics, and defining a business strategy. Tracy has been in management for 12 years in both non-profit and for profit organizations.

She knows the importance of effective team dynamics on an intimate (and life-or-death) level; she worked as a mountain guide leading executives to the tops of Washington's volcanoes. Tracy recently left the corporate world of business consulting to pursue private practice, and is now fine-tuning her management skills through parenting her daughter, Ruby.

Cara Wilson, MA ABS
Is a coach and consultant with 10 years of experience helping groups and individuals achieve their goals.  Her career path has seen her working with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, creating worldwide training and implementation plans for a software manufacturer, starting a non-profit, doing avalanche control at a ski area, and directing civic engagement programs for young adults.

Cara now has a private practice, where she draws on her diverse work experience and Master's in Coaching and Consulting in Organizations to her client's advantage. She facilitates their bridging the gap between professional expectations and actual performance by identifying and addressing the "blind spot".
