| Summary: |
Communication
skills can advance or stall your career. Make sure you are moving
forward or maintaining your ground. Learn to recognize and avoid
red flags to communicate successfully.
Recognize these red flags:
- Hiding from the Limelight (Who Me? All I Did Was Write
10,000 Lines of Code)
- Leaving Them in the Dust (But It IS Rocket Science!)
- Neglecting the Human Side (Cut the Courtesy Crap - Just
Get to the Point!)
- Hypnotizing Them (You Are Getting Very Sleepy, Now for
My 37th Slide)
- Applying Casual Day to Communication (BTW, D’ya See
the Cool Stats?)
Get strategies for:
- Conveying your accomplishments and strengths in speech
and writing
- Sharing information with non-technical people
- Addressing your audience and readers as human beings,
without being cute
- Getting to the point without sacrificing style and content
- Communicating like a well-rounded professional
